TOEFL Preparation Classes

The TOEFL, or Test of English as a Foreign Language, is an internationally recognized standardized test designed to assess the English language proficiency of non-native speakers. The test is primarily used for academic and professional purposes, such as admission to English-speaking universities, visa applications, and employment opportunities that require strong English language skills.

The TOEFL test measures the ability of test-takers to understand and use English in academic and real-life situations. It assesses four main language skills:

  1. Reading: This section evaluates the test-taker's ability to understand and analyze written English passages, including academic texts and articles. Test-takers answer questions that require comprehension, inference, and critical thinking.

  2. Listening: In this section, test-takers listen to various spoken English conversations, lectures, and discussions. They are then required to answer questions based on the information they heard, demonstrating their ability to understand spoken English in different contexts.

  3. Speaking: The speaking section assesses the test-taker's ability to communicate verbally in English. Test-takers are asked to respond to prompts by recording their spoken responses. These prompts may involve expressing opinions, summarizing information, or discussing a topic.

  4. Writing: This section evaluates the test-taker's writing skills. Test-takers are required to write responses to academic prompts, such as essays or summaries of given information. The writing tasks assess the ability to organize ideas, convey arguments logically, and use appropriate vocabulary and grammar.

The TOEFL test is available in two main formats:

  1. TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test): This is the most common format and is administered online. Test-takers take the exam on a computer at designated test centers. The TOEFL iBT includes all four sections mentioned above.

  2. TOEFL PBT (Paper-based Test): This format is less common and is administered using a paper-and-pencil format. It is available in areas where internet access may be limited. The TOEFL PBT assesses only the listening, reading, and writing skills.
